Optimum Business
Symmetrical Secure Fiber Internet from 500 Mbps to 8 Gbps with no annual contract, cable internet, backup and voice, plus enterprise dedicated internet from 50 Mbps to 10 Gbps, across Optimum's 21-state footprint. Strongest in the New York tri-state area.
The short answer
Optimum Business is the business arm of Optimum Communications (formerly Altice USA). For small and mid-size sites it sells Secure Fiber Internet, symmetrical plans from 500 Mbps to 8 Gbps with security included, no annual contract and a 60-day money-back offer, advertised from $65 a month for 500 Mbps (October 2026). Those plans are business broadband: Optimum advertises 99.9% network reliability but publishes no SLA and says speeds are not guaranteed. For sites that need a dedicated circuit, its enterprise group sells Dedicated Internet Access from 50 Mbps to 10 Gbps over fiber, quoted per address.

Carrier overview
What Optimum Business offers
Business Secure Fiber Internet runs over Optimum's fiber network directly to the business, with symmetrical tiers of 500 Mbps, 1 Gig (940 Mbps), 2 Gig, 5 Gig and 8 Gig. Plans include threat protection with DDoS and DNS security, have no annual contract, and come with a 60-day money-back offer on new installations. Optimum also advertises a buyout of a current contract up to $1,500. The 500 Mbps plan is advertised at $65 a month for 24 months (as advertised, October 2026), with installation and equipment fees extra.
Business Secure Internet is the cable version for addresses without Optimum fiber. Connection Backup adds a backup connection for outages, and the same account can carry hosted voice, trunking and WiFi.
Optimum Business Enterprise sells Dedicated Internet Access over fiber from 50 Mbps to 10 Gbps, with an option over hybrid fiber-coax, plus Ethernet (E-Line, V-Line, E-LAN), wavelengths, dark fiber, Cloud Connect and Managed DDoS Protection. Optimum cites 18,000 miles of network and 24/7 local support. Terms are set in a customized contract.
Where they are strongest
The New York tri-state area, where Optimum has built fiber across Long Island, parts of New York City, Westchester, New Jersey and Connecticut. For a branch office, retail site or small headquarters that wants symmetrical gigabit speeds without a multi-year contract, Secure Fiber Internet is often the best value we see there.
Optimum also serves the former Suddenlink markets across the South and Southwest; its footprint covers 21 states in total. Those markets are mostly cable, with fiber where Optimum has upgraded.
How we quote them
For tri-state sites we quote Optimum Secure Fiber alongside Lightpath, Verizon Business and the cable alternatives, and we check:
Broadband or dedicated. Secure Fiber Internet is symmetrical and fast, but it is broadband: no published SLA, and speeds "may vary & are not guaranteed." If the site needs an availability commitment, we quote Optimum's enterprise DIA or another carrier's dedicated circuit.
Fiber or cable at the address. Secure Internet (cable) and Secure Fiber Internet are priced and perform differently. We confirm which one serves the building.
Promotional pricing. Advertised rates are 24-month promotions with installation, equipment and price steps after. We compare the full 36-month cost, not month one.
No contract, both ways. Month-to-month means you can leave, and it also means the price can change. That is a fair trade for a branch site; less so for a headquarters.

Product comparison
Optimum Secure Fiber Internet vs Optimum Dedicated Internet Access
Secure Fiber Internet | Dedicated Internet Access (Enterprise) | |
|---|---|---|
Delivery | Optimum fiber to the business | Fiber (hybrid fiber-coax option) |
Speeds | 500 Mbps to 8 Gbps, symmetrical | 50 Mbps to 10 Gbps |
Bandwidth | Business broadband | Reserved for your site |
SLA | None published; 99.9% "network reliability" advertised | Set in the enterprise contract |
Contract | No annual contract, auto-renews monthly | Customized term contract |
Price | From $65 a month for 500 Mbps, as advertised | Quoted per address |
Security | Threat protection, DDoS and DNS security included | Managed DDoS Protection available |
A retail store or branch office usually belongs on Secure Fiber. A site where an outage stops revenue belongs on a dedicated circuit, from Optimum or anyone else. We compare Optimum's fiber with its sister carrier in Optimum Business Secure Fiber vs Lightpath.
Alternatives
When another carrier fits better
You need a dedicated circuit with a published SLA in the tri-state. Lightpath publishes 99.9% availability on its DIA; Verizon Business publishes 100%. Both are often lit in the same buildings.
Former Suddenlink markets with only cable. Spectrum Business, AT&T Business or a regional fiber carrier may have fiber at the address when Optimum has coax.
Multi-state sites outside Optimum's footprint. National carriers such as AT&T Business, Lumen and Verizon Business put everything on one contract.
You want a backup on a different network. Optimum and Lightpath share history, so we do not assume their paths are independent. For a backup, we check the entrance and route, or pick a carrier with no shared heritage such as Comcast Business where it serves the address. See Your backup circuit is probably on the same fiber path.
Contract notes
What the Secure Fiber Internet offer says
No annual contract. Service auto-renews monthly until you cancel, by phone.
60-day money-back. Applies to new installations, covering recurring service fees and initial installation charges. Equipment must be returned within 60 days of installation.
Contract buyout. Optimum advertises paying off a current provider's contract up to $1,500.
Promotional term. The advertised 500 Mbps price holds for 24 months, then rises toward standard rates.
Reliability claim. The 99.9% network reliability figure excludes outages from external events and scheduled maintenance, and is not an SLA.
Enterprise DIA terms are set in Optimum's customized contract and are not published. See Read this before you auto-renew a 36-month term.

Frequently asked questions
Is Optimum Business the same as Altice?
Yes. Altice USA renamed itself Optimum Communications effective November 19, 2025, matching its consumer and business brand. Optimum Business is the business unit; Suddenlink markets now also sell under Optimum.
Does Optimum Business Secure Fiber Internet have an SLA?
Optimum advertises 99.9% network reliability, excluding external events and scheduled maintenance, but does not publish an SLA or service credits for Secure Fiber Internet, and says speeds are not guaranteed. For an SLA, look at its enterprise Dedicated Internet Access or another carrier's dedicated circuit.
Are Optimum Business fiber speeds symmetrical?
Yes, on Secure Fiber Internet. Optimum lists 500 Mbps, 940 Mbps, 2 Gig, 5 Gig and 8 Gig plans with the same upload and download. The cable product, Secure Internet, is not symmetrical.
Does Optimum Business require a contract?
Secure Fiber Internet and Secure Internet have no annual contract and auto-renew monthly, with a 60-day money-back offer for new installations. Enterprise dedicated services use a customized term contract.
Is Optimum Business the same company as Lightpath?
Not quite. Both came out of Cablevision, and Optimum Communications owns 50.01% of Lightpath, with Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners owning the rest. They sell separately, with different products and contracts, so we quote them as two carriers.
Where does Optimum Business offer service?
Optimum serves 21 states. Its fiber is concentrated in the New York tri-state area; the former Suddenlink markets in states such as Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, West Virginia and North Carolina are mostly cable. The address decides what is available.
How fast is Optimum Business dedicated internet?
Optimum Business Enterprise lists Dedicated Internet Access from 50 Mbps to 10 Gbps over fiber. Pricing and SLA terms are quoted per address.
