Uniti Fiber
The fiber network of Uniti Group, which merged with Windstream in August 2025: about 240,000 route miles, densest across the Southeast, the Gulf Coast and the former Windstream markets. We quote it for dedicated fiber, wavelengths, dark fiber and E-Rate projects, next to every other carrier at the address.
The short answer
Uniti Fiber is the enterprise fiber brand of Uniti Group, the Little Rock company that completed its merger with Windstream on August 1, 2025. The combined company reports about 240,000 fiber route miles across 47 states and sells through four brands: Uniti Fiber (business fiber, strongest in the Southeast), Uniti Wholesale (carriers, hyperscalers and large enterprises), Kinetic (homes and small businesses in the former Windstream footprint) and Uniti Solutions (managed network, security and voice, formerly Windstream Enterprise). For dedicated internet, Ethernet, wavelengths and dark fiber in its footprint, Uniti is often the only fiber option or one of two. Outside it, a national carrier is usually the better buy.

What Uniti Fiber offers
After the Windstream merger, Uniti sells the same network through several doors. The products a business buyer sees:
Dedicated Internet Access. Committed, symmetrical fiber internet on Uniti's own active optical network, with a 100G IP backbone, connections to several Tier 1 providers and direct peering with large content networks.
Ethernet and networking services between sites, and Cloud Connect to the major clouds.
Wavelengths. From 10G up through multi-terabit requirements, with FastWaves for 100G and 400G on accelerated timelines.
Dark fiber, offered as an IRU, a lease or a strand purchase, depending on the route.
Colocation, voice and managed networking.
E-Rate services for schools and libraries.
Through Uniti Wholesale, the company also lists more than 100,000 lit buildings and 450,000 near-net buildings for DIA, a figure that includes access over partner networks. Managed SD-WAN, SASE and UCaaS are sold by Uniti Solutions, the former Windstream Enterprise; see our Windstream Enterprise page.
Where they are strongest
Uniti Fiber's own build is densest across the Southeast and the Gulf Coast, where it serves banks, hospitals, schools and governments. The Windstream merger added fiber in Kinetic's markets: about 1,400 small and mid-sized markets across 18 states. Fiber to schools, towers and business parks, and wholesale routes between secondary markets, are where Uniti competes hardest.
In many of those towns, Uniti is the only enterprise-grade fiber in the street. That is a real strength, and also a reason to check for a second carrier before you sign, because a sole provider has little reason to sharpen its price.
How we quote them
We quote Uniti for dedicated fiber and Ethernet in the Southeast and the former Windstream footprint, for dark fiber and wavelengths on secondary-market routes, and for E-Rate-funded school networks.
Before a Uniti quote goes next to anyone else's, we confirm three things:
Which Uniti is quoting. Uniti Fiber, Uniti Wholesale, Kinetic Business and Uniti Solutions are separate sales teams with separate contracts. A Kinetic Business broadband quote and a Uniti Fiber DIA quote are different products, even at the same address.
On-net or partner access. Uniti's large lit and near-net building counts include partner networks. We confirm whether the last mile is Uniti's own fiber, because that drives install time and repair responsibility.
The SLA in writing. Uniti does not publish its enterprise SLA. We get the availability commitment, credit schedule and repair targets on paper before we compare it with carriers that publish theirs.

Product comparison
Uniti Fiber DIA vs Kinetic Business internet
Uniti Fiber Dedicated Internet | Kinetic Business internet | |
|---|---|---|
Who sells it | Uniti Fiber / Uniti enterprise sales | Kinetic, Uniti's consumer and small-business brand |
Bandwidth | Committed, symmetrical | Broadband plans |
Network | Uniti's active optical network | Kinetic's fiber and copper plant in its 18-state footprint |
SLA | Negotiated per contract | Typically none for availability; confirm in writing |
Best for | Headquarters, clinics, schools, multi-site networks | Small offices and backup circuits |
If the business stops when the internet stops, buy dedicated. If it can ride out the occasional slow afternoon, Kinetic Business can be the right money, especially as a second path.
Alternatives
When another carrier fits better
Sites outside the Southeast and the Kinetic footprint. Lumen, AT&T Business and Verizon Business cover more of the map on one contract.
Long-haul wavelengths between major metros. Lumen and Zayo ranked first and second in US wavelength services for 2025; Uniti sits in the challenger tier. Uniti wins on secondary-market routes.
Cost-sensitive internet in a lit tower or data center. Cogent is usually cheaper on-net.
A diverse second path in a Uniti-only town. Cable carriers such as Spectrum Business or Comcast Business often reach the building on different infrastructure. See Your backup circuit is probably on the same fiber path.
Texas routes. FiberLight is worth pricing next to Uniti where both serve the route.

Frequently asked questions
Did Uniti and Windstream merge?
Yes. Uniti completed its merger with Windstream on August 1, 2025, and trades on Nasdaq as UNIT. Windstream is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Uniti Group. The combined company sells through Uniti Fiber, Uniti Wholesale, Kinetic and Uniti Solutions.
Is Uniti Fiber the same as Windstream Enterprise?
No. Uniti Fiber is the enterprise fiber brand that came from the original Uniti. Windstream Enterprise, the managed network, security and voice business, now operates as Uniti Solutions. They belong to the same parent, but they are separate brands and sales teams, and a quote from one is not a quote from the other.
How big is Uniti's network?
Uniti reports about 240,000 fiber route miles across 47 states and more than 800,000 building and data center connections. Its own enterprise build is densest in the Southeast, and Kinetic's footprint covers about 1,400 markets across 18 states.
What does Uniti Fiber dedicated internet cost?
Uniti does not publish dedicated internet pricing. Where it is the only fiber carrier in town, pricing reflects that; where a second carrier is lit, it is usually competitive. Send us the address and we will quote it next to everyone else who serves the building.
Does Uniti sell dark fiber?
Yes. Uniti Wholesale sells dark fiber as an IRU, a lease or a strand purchase, depending on the route. It is strongest on routes between secondary markets in the Southeast and the former Windstream footprint.
Can Uniti help with E-Rate?
Yes. Uniti lists E-Rate services for schools and libraries, and school and government networks are a core market for Uniti Fiber in the Southeast. E-Rate procurement has its own bidding rules, so we start those conversations early in the funding year.
What SLA does Uniti offer?
Uniti does not publish an enterprise SLA on its website. It is negotiated with the contract. We get the availability commitment, credit schedule and repair targets in writing before we compare a Uniti quote with carriers that publish theirs.
